What is Character? Character Time Activity

What is Character?

What is character? Character is who you are even when no one is watching. Good character comes from God and is a reflection of His character.

Supplies Needed:
Beans (or other seed)
Dirt
Plastic cup

Today, your child can plant a bean, or other seed, by filling a plastic cup ¾ of the way with dirt. Gently press the bean into the dirt until it is completely covered. Then, water the plant and place it in a sunny location.

Talk About It: The type of seed you plant is what you eventually grow. If you plant a bean, you will grow a bean plant. Your character is similar to this. You might think that the little decisions you make don’t really matter, but they are like seeds that grow to develop either good character or bad character. The Bible says in Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” This week, before you make a decision, stop and ask yourself: will this be planting a seed for good character or bad character?
